LONGMEADOW, Mass.- The Falcons of Cedar Crest College defeated host Wildcats of bay Path 6-0 in NCAA Division III women's field hockey action today the Blazer Field in Chicopee, Mass. Freshman forward Ally Arabio (Egg Harbor, N.J.) led the way for the Falcons scoring two goals including the first and eventual game winner at 4:42 on the clock off an assist from freshman midfielder Annalise Unger (Burlington, VT.).
Arabio would also net the fifth goal (first of the second half) in the 40th minute of play. Sophomore midfielder Makenzie Kistler (Walnutport, Penn.) would garner the assist.
In the 20th minute the Falcons would score again after a penalty corner. Senior midfielder Elizabeth Lamm (Schnecksville, Penn.) would score off a pass on the circle by senior midfielder Hanna Gouck (Kintnersville, Penn.).
At 19:58, freshman midfielder Mercedes Melo (Lehighton, Penn.) would land the third goal unassisted.
Gouck would team up with Kistler to nail the fourth goal in the 30th minute of play.
Coming off the bench, freshman forward Brenna Desborough (Amherst, N.H.) would score the sixth and final insurance goal for the Falcons landing her first collegiate goal. Fellow reservist and freshman forward Brice Gardner (Gardners, Penn.) would add the assist.
Senior keeper Bethany Rogers (Plymouth, Mass.) would suffer the loss despite 16 saves facing 25 shots, 22 on goal. The Falcons senior goalkeeper Cassandra Reijgers (Hollis, N.H.) nabbed the win.
Cedar Crest is now 5-3 overall, while Bay Path falls to 0-8 on the season.
