LONGMEADOW, Mass.- The Wildcats of Bay Path shut down the Eagles of Daniel Webster 7-0 today in New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) women's soccer action today at Ryan Field. Junior midfielder Emily Serrano (Savoy, Mass.) led the way for the Wildcats with four points scoring the first goal and eventual game winner along with two assists on the day.
Sophomore forward Melissa Toler (Paso Robles, Calif.) scored next at 10:33 on the clock off a cross up the middle by Serrano.
Senior defender Rachael Barber (Lynn, Mass.) found the back of the net at 24:09 after shelling it past Fredericks.
Both teams agreed upon two shortened halves due to a small roster size for the Eagles. The Wildcats played down three to even the score with the Eagles in the second half.
In the second half, the Wildcats scored three more goals from freshman Katie Mikolajczak (Griswold, Conn.), sophomore forward Megan Tancredi (Newington, Conn.) and sophomore starting keeper/forward Marina Rhodes (Providence, R.I.). Two were unassisted while Mikolajczak's sixth goal at 43:29 was assisted by Serrano.
Bay Path is now 3-10-2 overall and 2-5 in conference play, while Daniel Webster falls to 1-11 on the season and 0-7 in the NECC. Bay Path travels to Southern Vermont on Wednesday, October 24th for a 3:00 p.m. match, while the Eagles host Newbury on the same day for a 4:00 p.m. start.
