LONGMEADOW, Mass.- The Wildcats secure a spot in the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) 2014 Women's Soccer Tournament with the 3-0 victory today over the Mariners of Mitchell College today during senior day at Ryan Field. Bay Path is now 4-12-1 overall and 3-5-1 in the NECC tied with Newbury for the #6 spot, Mitchell is 2-12-2 on the season and 2-5-2 in conference play at the #8 spot.
Sophomore forward Kristen Lynch (Belchertown, Mass.) started the ball rolling for the Wildcats making big plays for the first goal and eventual game winner along with her second assist on the second goal in the second half. Unfortunately for the Mariners, the first goal was an own goal with an assist by Lynch who attempted the shot.
Bay Path headed into the break ahead 1-0 and came back for the final 45 minutes ready to score. Lynch launched a cross at 60:10 on the clock to freshman forward Angela Ferrentino (Agawam, Mass.) who launched it into an open net after drawing out the keeper.
At 80:14 sophomore forward Shianne Silvia came off the bench to spark the Wildcats making along drive up midfield going 1V1 with the keeper scoring the third and final goal.
Sophomore keeper Alma Rizvani (Prospect, Conn.) notched the shut-out facing 14 shots and saving seven shots. Mitchell's keepers split time in the net. Starting junior goalie Katie McBride (Paris, France) faced seven shots, had five saves and allowed two goals. Relief keeper sophomore Shirley Palmer (St. Albans, N.Y.) had one goal against.
Tancredi's numbers for her three seasons as a Wildcat thus far are 51 games played, 7 goals, 4 assist, 18 points and 60 shots. Rhodes played all four season with Bay Path totaling 56 games played, 4 goals, 8 points and 16 shots for her career.
