The Wildcats Remain Remain Undefeated in NECC Play

The Wildcats of Bay Path shut-out New England Collegiate Conference rivals the Mariners of Mitchell 9-0 today in the final week of league women’s tennis play.

Bay Path swept the singles action earning all five points. In the #1 singles match, senior Raquel Babeu (North Adams, Mass.) defeated senior Jennifer Travella (Oracle, Ariz.) 6-3, 6-4. Maroon and White net-woman, junior Julia Bendzin (Poestenkill, N.Y.) shut-down her opponent junior Miah Manning (Baltic, Conn.) 6-0, 6-1.

In #3 singles action, junior Kara Fox (Biddeford, Maine) won 6-2, 6-1 over sophomore Ilana Papernick (New York, N.Y.). Freshman Wildcat , three-time NECC Rookie of the Week, Sara Costa (Tiverton, R.I.) proved why she tops the conference winning six-love, six-love. In #5 singles action, Wildcats’ sophomore Carolina Ynquanzo (Springfield, Mass.) won her match 6-1, 6-1. In the final flight, Bay Path’s junior Cristina Ruiz (Waterbury, Conn.) easily won her match 6-0, 6-0 from junior Sarah Webster (Waterford, Conn.).

The undefeated Wildcat teammates are now 10-0 on the season as they plowed through the Mariners’ freshman Rebecca Ciccarone (Malverne, N.Y.) and Papernick 8-1 in the #3 doubles action.

Babeu and Ynguanzo along with Fox and Bendzin also won their doubles matches 8-4 and 8-0 respectively on the day.

Bay Path advances to 11-2 overall and 5-0 in the NECC , while Mitchell falls to 1-8 on the season and 0-5 in conference play.
