Why Golf Should Be On Your Resume

On Thursday, October 15th, the Student-Athlete Advisory Council sponsored "Why Golf Should Be On Your Resume" presented by Kathy Labrie and Cindy Johnson. Kathy and Cindy spoke to Bay Path College students, faculty, and staff about the importance of playing the game of golf for both professional and personal benefits.
Kathy Labrie is currently the President of the Greater Springfield Executive Women's Golf Association and President of Public Management Associates, LLC. Kathy earned her Bachelor's degree from Westfield State College and her Master's of Business Management from Western New England College. Kathy worked and lived all over the world while at Spear Technology, where she worked on World Bank contracts for software installations for the transportation industry. She did not have a golf background, but was told on a performance evaluation that she was doing great; however, she needed to incorporate the game of golf to really become successful.
Cindy Johnson is the owner of Fran Johnson's Golf & Tennis and the owner of The Women's Golf Shop, an online web business acquired in 2007. Cindy earned her Bachelor's degree from Springfield College. After college, Cindy decided to get into the family business, Fran Johnson's Golf & Tennis, and eventually took over for her mother, Fran Johnson, in 1996. In 2008, Cindy opened the second Fran Johnsons in Hadley, Mass. Cindy is also the co-founder of the local chapter of the Executive Women's Golf Association. She also sits on several boards including the Bay Path Advisory Council, UMASS Family Business Advisory Board, Scibelli Enterprise Center Advisory Board, and Westfield State College Foundation Board.
Both Kathy and Cindy spoke about their professional backgrounds and then transitioned into their personal experiences with the game of golf. Although they were both exposed in different ways, both women explained how golf has benefited their lives in a positive way, socially, personally, and professionally.
