Fitchburg State University beats Bay Path in opener in Myrtle Beach, SC

MYRLTLE BEACH, S.C. (March 10, 2014) – The Fitchburg State softball team posted a pair of shutout victories on day two of its South Carolina trip, downing Bay Path College, 6-0 in game one.

In game one, Fitchburg State posted six runs on five hits, while the duo of junior Brittany Whiting (Sharon, Mass.) and freshman Terri Ferrazzani(N. Reading, Mass.) limited the Wildcats to just two hits en-route to the 6-0 victory

Junior Amanda Whitelaw (Flemington, N.J.) led the Falcons attack, going a perfect 3-for-3 with an RBI and two stolen bases, while freshman Courtney Borysewicz (Quaker Hill, Conn.) notched her first collegiate hit with a triple. For Bay Path, sophomore Casey Botelho (Providence, R.I.) and senior Emily Serrano (Savoy, Mass.) collected one hit apiece.

Whiting went the first three innings for Fitchburg State before giving way to Ferrazzani, who earned her first collegiate victory, allowing just two hits (8 K's), while senior Keelin Dougherty (Northfield, N.H.) suffered the loss for the Wildcats, giving up five runs on five hits and striking out three.
