In a commanding display of skill and precision, Eastern Connecticut State University swept Bay Path College in three straight sets at the Francis E. Geissler Gymnasium on Sunday. The Eastern Conn. St. volleyball team won with scores of 25-13, 25-14, and 25-15, improving their season record to 5-1.
Eastern Conn. St. demonstrated superiority both offensively and defensively throughout the match. The Warriors executed a potent attack with a hitting percentage of .400, totaling 50 kills across the three sets, while effectively minimizing errors. Standout performances came from Brooke Praskievicz, who led with an impressive 13 kills and a .571 hitting percentage, and Allegra Copeland, who added 9 kills with a .412 hitting percentage.
Service plays also favored Eastern Conn. St., where they managed 11 aces. Samantha Blandford contributed significantly from the service line with 4 aces. The defensive efforts were equally notable, with the team accumulating 47 digs, led by Emerson Conigliaro's 11 digs.
Bay Path struggled to find footing against the relentless Warriors. Despite efforts from players like Anastasiya Tsetsko, who recorded 8 kills with a .300 hitting percentage, Bay Path fell short with a combined hitting percentage of .129 and could not match Eastern Conn. St.'s pace or efficiency.
Coach's View: Eastern Conn. St. Coach praised the team's synergy and focus, stating, "The team executed the game plan perfectly. Our offense was strong, and our serving really gave us an edge."
The match lasted only 1 hour and 17 minutes, with an audience of 200 fans witnessing the energetic contest. Eastern Conn. St. will look to continue their winning streak as they embark on Little East Conference play, while Bay Path, now 2-3, aims to regroup and improve their performance in upcoming matches.
