In a tightly contested match at the Longmeadow Adult Center, Bay Path secured a hard-fought victory over Southern Maine Community College (SMCC), winning three sets to one. The Wildcats improved their season record to 3-3, while SMCC started their campaign with a 0-1 record.

Bay Path dominated the first set, taking an early lead and maintaining it to win 25-21. Southern Maine responded in the second set, narrowly edging out Bay Path with a 25-22 victory, leveling the match at one set apiece. However, the Wildcats regained momentum in the third set, clinching a 25-22 win. They sealed the match in the fourth set with a commanding 25-17 performance.

Offensively, Bay Path was spearheaded by Anastasiya Tsetsko and Asja Kazic. Tsetsko delivered an impressive performance with 22 kills and a .372 hitting percentage, adding 26 points—highlighting her key role in the Wildcats' victory. Kazic also shone with 12 kills and a .423 hitting percentage. Defensively, Michelle Santiago led in assists with 21, while Shanayah St Phard's 17 digs fortified their backline.

Seniors, Anastasiya Tsetsko and Michelle Santiago both at individual record setting moments during the match. Tsetsko recorded her 1,000th career kill coming in the 4th set, while Santiago got her 1,000th career assist earlier in the same set

Southern Maine's effort was led by Lilly Andreasen with 8 kills and a total contribution of 11 points. Her teammates Elise Kaplan and Meryk Lewellen each added 7 kills to the Rams' tally. Despite these efforts, the team had a collective hitting percentage of .056, which potentially hindered their ability to capitalize on scoring opportunities.

Bay Path's superior team attack percentage of .212 reflected their more consistent execution and efficiency on the court. Although Southern Maine showed resilience, particularly in the second set, they ultimately struggled to maintain that competitive edge throughout the match.

The game, witnessed by an audience of 45, lasted for two hours and fifteen minutes, showcasing the competitive nature of collegiate volleyball and setting the stage for an exciting season ahead for both teams. As they move forward in the season, both squads will look to build upon this encounter, refining their strategies and enhancing their on-court chemistry.
