Bay Path Secures Victory Over Lesley with a Strong Offensive Display

In a spirited softball match on April 16, 2025, at South Campus Stadium, Bay Path emerged victorious over Lesley with a final score of 10-5. The game showcased impressive offensive plays from both teams, but Bay Path's consistent scoring and strategic plays sealed their win.
Bay Path took an early lead in the first inning when M. Sunderland singled, driving in C. Austin. Lesley quickly responded in the second inning with S. Thomas doubling to bring M. Herbert home, leveling the score at 1-1. However, Bay Path regained their lead in the bottom of the second, scoring two more runs through J. Harrigan's single and M. Tessmer's sacrifice fly.
Lesley fought back in the third inning with J. O'Neill's two-RBI triple, tying the game at 3-3. Yet, Bay Path's offense proved relentless, as they added two more runs in the fourth inning courtesy of M. Vera's single, bringing the score to 5-3.
Despite Lesley's efforts, including a solo home run by E. Hodgkins in the sixth inning, Bay Path extended their lead with a powerful display in the sixth. M. Sunderland hit a two-run homer, followed by J. Boudreau's RBI double, and J. Harrigan's RBI single, pushing the score to 10-5.
M. Sunderland not only excelled at the plate with a home run and three RBIs but also delivered a solid performance on the mound, pitching seven innings with seven strikeouts and allowing only four earned runs. Lesley's pitcher, M. Herbert, pitched six innings but struggled against Bay Path's determined hitters, giving up 10 runs on 16 hits.
The game, attended by 50 spectators, lasted just over two hours and was officiated by umpires Richard Wilkison and Ed Wojtowicz. Bay Path's victory improved their season record to 15-12, while Lesley fell to 3-14. The match highlighted Bay Path's offensive depth and strategic execution, marking a significant win in their season.
The Wildcats next doubleheader will be away against Southern Maine Community College on Saturday, April 26th at 1:00pm and 3:00pm.
