Spring Break Trip Ends with 3-2 to St. Elizabeth University

St. Elizabeth rallied from an early two-run deficit and leaned on a complete-game effort from Gabby Cummings to edge Bay Path, 3–2, on March 6 in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Bay Path struck first in the bottom of the first, using back-to-back RBI singles to take a 2–0 lead. Tristan Perez drove in the game's first run with a single up the middle, then Grace Ramsey followed with a single to right-center to plate another and put Bay Path ahead 2–0.

After three scoreless innings from both pitchers, St. Elizabeth pulled even in the fourth behind the big swing of the day from Romie Kalupy. With Grace Bobbie and Leidy Soto Leyba on base, Kalupy ripped a two-run double down the right-field line to tie the game, 2–2.

The score remained knotted until the sixth, when St. Elizabeth cashed in again. Bobbie—who finished with two runs scored—came around to score the go-ahead run on Kalupy's RBI single to second base, giving the Eagles their first lead at 3–2.

Cummings made that lead stand, working through traffic to finish all seven innings. She allowed seven hits and two runs, walked two and struck out three on 89 pitches to earn the win (1–1). Bay Path's Kaitlyn Kerstetter also went the distance, surrendering 10 hits and three runs with five strikeouts, taking the loss (0–1).

Bay Path was led by Madison Tessmer (2-for-3, run) and received RBIs from Perez and Ramsey in the first inning, but the offense was held scoreless the rest of the way.

St. Elizabeth improved to 4–6 with the win, while Bay Path moved to 2–6.
