Bay Path Completes Doubleheader Sweep with 4-2 Win Over UMaine-Augusta

Bay Path used a decisive fourth inning and a complete-game effort from Alyssa Kreischer to top Me.-Augusta, 4–2, on Thursday afternoon at South Campus.

Me.-Augusta struck first in the opening frame. Madilyn Cote opened the game with a hit, moved into scoring position, and came home when Shannah Parsons lined an RBI single to give the Moose a 1–0 lead. Kreischer settled in from there, working out of traffic and keeping the score unchanged through the middle innings.

The game turned in the bottom of the fourth. Bay Path tied it at 1–1 when Allison Dattilo reached on an error that allowed Eliana Tena to score. Two batters later, Kreischer delivered the big swing—launching a two-run homer to center to put Bay Path ahead 3–1.

Me.-Augusta made a push in the sixth. Natalie Gilman doubled and eventually scored on Samantha Withee's RBI groundout, trimming the deficit to 3–2. Bay Path answered immediately in the bottom half, manufacturing an insurance run as Ansley Morrison (pinch-running) scored and Kreischer capped the inning with an RBI single for a 4–2 advantage.

Kreischer closed it out in the seventh to secure the win, going the distance with seven innings, six hits, two runs, three walks and two strikeouts. Parsons took the loss for Me.-Augusta, allowing four runs over six innings while striking out two.

Offensively, Me.-Augusta was led by Cote (2-for-4, double) and Parsons (2-for-4, RBI), while Bay Path got a 2-for-2 day from Madison Sunderland and a 2-for-2, three-RBI performance from Kreischer that included the go-ahead home run.
