Bay Path Overpowers Lesley in Game One 15-1

Bay Path erupted for six runs in the opening inning and never let up, rolling past Lesley 15–1 in five innings Friday afternoon at Papasodora Field.

Bay Path (17–17) set the tone immediately, capitalizing on early Lesley miscues and timely hitting to build a 6–0 lead before the Lynx recorded an out of the inning. Madison Sunderland and Jenna Boudreau delivered run-scoring singles to get things started, and the rally continued when Jackie Phillips reached on an error for an RBI. Two wild pitches brought home additional unearned runs, and Sophie Verrengia punctuated the frame with a two-run homer—also scored unearned due to the earlier error—to make it 6–0.

Lesley (1–20) answered in the bottom of the first when Isabella Moscoso singled and later scored on Leah St. John's RBI double to center, cutting the deficit to 6–1. It would be the Lynx's only run of the day, as Bay Path pitcher Kaitlyn Kerstetter settled in and dominated. Kerstetter went the distance in the run-rule shortened game, allowing five hits and one earned run while striking out seven and issuing no walks on 52 pitches (36 strikes).

Bay Path kept adding on. In the third, Allison Dattilo's RBI double and Ariana Rivard's RBI single pushed the lead to 8–1. An error in the fourth helped Bay Path tack on another run, and then the visitors blew the game open with a six-run fifth inning. Madison Tessmer opened the scoring in the fifth with an RBI double, Boudreau added another RBI single, and Bay Path kept the line moving with Phillips' RBI fielder's choice, Grace Ramsey's RBI single, and an RBI walk by Verrengia. Caroline Austin's RBI single capped the scoring at 15–1.

Bay Path finished with 15 hits and five walks, with multiple players producing big days at the plate. Austin went 3-for-5 with two runs and an RBI, Boudreau went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and scored twice, and Verrengia drove in three (home run plus an RBI walk) while reaching base three times (2-for-3, walk). Rivard also had a two-hit game and added an RBI and a stolen base. Dattilo chipped in an RBI double as Bay Path collected four doubles overall (Austin, Tessmer, Phillips, Dattilo).

For Lesley, St. John was the standout offensively, going 2-for-2 with a double and the team's lone RBI. Moscoso also had a hit and scored the Lynx's only run, while Jess O'Neill contributed a pinch-hit single.

In the circle for Lesley, Madison Herbert took the loss, working four innings and allowing nine runs (four earned) on 10 hits, with two walks and three strikeouts. Moscoso pitched the fifth and was charged with six runs on five hits and three walks.
