Wildcats Defeat MCLA 11-7
Bay Path erased an early three-run deficit and outlasted MCLA, 11–7, Thursday afternoon (April 9, 2026) at South Campus.
Back-and-forth start, big second inning
Bay Path struck first in the bottom of the first when Madison Tessmer scored on an MCLA wild pitch for a 1–0 lead. MCLA answered immediately with a four-run top of the second, sparked by Amelia Leasure's RBI double and followed by RBI hits from Miranda Ranzoni , Hailey Peabody (RBI double), and Maggie Closinski to make it 4–1.
Bay Path responded with its own four-run second to flip the game. Caroline Austin delivered a two-run single, Tessmer added an RBI double, and Madison Sunderland knocked in the go-ahead run with an RBI single as Bay Path moved in front 5–4.
Momentum swings again in the fourth
Bay Path extended the lead to 6–4 in the third on an RBI groundout by Allison Dattilo. MCLA then surged back in the fourth: Nevaeh Lopez hit a solo home run, and Hannah Gilbert followed with a two-run homer, pushing MCLA back on top, 7–6.
The lead didn't last. In the bottom of the fourth, Bay Path reclaimed control with Jackie Phillips' two-run single, aided by unearned runs, to go ahead 8–7.
Bay Path pulls away in the fifth, bullpen closes it down
Bay Path created separation in the fifth, scoring three times—one on a bases-loaded walk to Sunderland and two more on Jenna Boudreau's two-run single —to build the final margin at 11–7.
After MCLA's seven runs in the first four innings, Bay Path's pitching settled in. Jenna Boudreau worked a scoreless fifth, and Madison Sunderland finished with two scoreless innings, limiting MCLA to one hit over the final three frames.
Bay Path's ability to answer every MCLA surge—especially the immediate response after MCLA's two-homer fourth inning—proved decisive, as the Wildcats (or home side) used a three-run fifth and shutdown relief to secure the 11–7 win.
