Bay Path Rolls Over VT-State-Lyndon in Game 1
Bay Path broke open a tight early game with power and relentless run production, rolling past Northern Vermont-Lyndon 16–5 on April 21, 2026 at South Campus.
Northern Vermont-Lyndon struck first in the top of the first when R. McNamara drew an RBI walk to bring home L. Gannon for a 1–0 lead. Bay Path answered immediately—and decisively—in the bottom half. Jackie Phillips delivered a two-run single, Anya Gesin followed with a two-run double, and an error extended the inning as Bay Path surged in front 5–1 after one.
The visitors closed the gap in the second, taking advantage of Bay Path miscues. A run scored on an error, then McNamara lined a two-run single as Northern Vermont-Lyndon pulled within 5–4. Any momentum, however, was short-lived. Bay Path responded in the bottom of the second with a solo home run by Madison Sunderland and an RBI single from Gesin to rebuild a 7–4 cushion.
From there, Bay Path put the game out of reach with multi-run frames in each of the next two innings. In the third, Caroline Austin lifted a sacrifice fly, Jenna Boudreau knocked in a run with a single, and Phillips delivered the big blow—a three-run homer—to make it 12–4. Bay Path kept piling on in the fourth: a Tessmer RBI fielder's choice, a two-run double by Sunderland, and another RBI single by Boudreau stretched the lead to 16–4. Northern Vermont-Lyndon was held scoreless the rest of the way after its four-run second, and the contest ended after five innings.
Phillips paced Bay Path's offense with a huge day in the middle of the lineup, going 2-for-4 with five RBIs, highlighted by her three-run home run. Sunderland filled the stat line as well (2-for-2, four runs, three RBIs) with a homer and a two-run double. Boudreau went 3-for-4 with two RBIs, while Gesin added a double and three RBIs. Bay Path finished with 13 hits.
In the circle, Kaitlyn Kerstetter went the distance for Bay Path, allowing five runs but just one earned, striking out eight while working around six walks. McNamara took the loss for Northern Vermont-Lyndon, charged with 16 runs (14 earned) over four innings as Bay Path's lineup produced two home runs and consistent traffic on the bases.
Team notes: both clubs committed three errors, and Bay Path improved to 14–15 with the win while Northern Vermont-Lyndon dropped to 2–8. Attendance was 60.
