MCLA Beats Bay Path University 8-2

MCLA Beats Bay Path University 8-2

MCLA built an early lead and never let Bay Path back into the game, cruising to an 8–2 win Thursday evening (April 9, 2026) at South Campus.

How it unfolded
MCLA struck first in the opening inning when Nevaeh Lopez* singled home Hailey Peabody for a 1–0 advantage. Peabody continued to be a catalyst all night, eventually scoring four runs.

The Trailblazers added on in the third, again plating Peabody—this time on Lopez's sacrifice fly to center to make it 2–0.
the game broke open in the fifth inning. With two runners on, Hannah Gilbert launched a three-run home run, pushing MCLA's lead to 5–0. Gilbert's power proved decisive; she later homered again in the seventh as MCLA piled on insurance runs.
MCLA tacked on three more in the seventh: Lopez delivered an RBI triple, Maggie Closinski followed with a sacrifice fly, and Gilbert capped the inning with a solo homer, extending the margin to 8–0.
Bay Path avoided the shutout in the bottom of the seventh, scoring twice on an RBI triple by Ansley Morrison and an RBI single by Ariana Rivard, but the rally came too late as MCLA closed out the 8–2 final.

For Bay Path, Caroline Austin (2-for-4) and Anya Gesin (2-for-3, run) led the hit column, while Morrison (RBI triple) and Rivard (2-for-3, RBI) supplied the late scoring.
