Wildcats Win Game Two 8-5
Bay Path snapped a late deficit with timely hitting and pressure on the bases, rallying past Hartwick 8–5 on Saturday afternoon (March 29) in Oneonta.
Bay Path (now 9–9) jumped on Hartwick early, scoring twice in the first and twice again in the second to build a 4–0 lead. The big blow came immediately in the top of the first when Madison Sunderland launched a two-run home run to put Bay Path in front 2–0. In the second, Bay Path added two more—one run scoring on a Hartwick defensive miscue and another on Sunderland's RBI single, giving her three RBIs on the day.
Hartwick (1–11) chipped back in the second on Shannon Mentz's RBI double to make it 4–1, then erupted in the third and fourth to take the lead. Mihaly Blake homered in the third and later scored again in the fourth on a passed ball as Hartwick posted four unanswered runs across the third and fourth innings to move ahead 5–4.
Bay Path's response came in the sixth. With runners in position, Anya Gesin delivered an RBI single to tie the game at 5–5, and Tristen Perez followed with a sacrifice fly to push Bay Path back in front, 6–5.
The visitors added crucial insurance in the seventh by forcing mistakes. A stolen base by Sunderland helped spark the inning, and Bay Path scored on a catcher's error before Jackie Phillips ripped an RBI double to make it 8–5.
Bay Path used three pitchers, and the bullpen was the difference:
- Starter Kaitlyn Korsetter went 4.0 innings and allowed all five Hartwick runs.
- Alyssa Kreischer earned the win with 2.0 scoreless innings, allowing just one hit.
- Madison Sunderland finished the seventh with two strikeouts in a scoreless frame.
Bay Path's combination of consistent contact (18 hits) and late-game execution—capitalizing on defensive miscues and producing situational runs—sealed the 8–5 win in a game that swung multiple times before the final inning.
